The Parkhurst Family Journal Vol. 3, No. 4 October
1997. Editor William P. Parkhurst writes on page 8
an article he called "Best Guess?". It says,
Now then, a theory I have is that Parkhursts did come
from the Isle of Wight, but they were not known as
Parkhursts when they lived there. As you know a lot
of people got their names from whence they came. In
this account we have three people who were caretakers
of the "Parkhurst Forest", and when they
migrated to the mainland and were asked where they
came from what do you suppose was their answer? "Parkhurst",
maybe? It sounds plausible to me.
